Footsteps of a Nation

In Room 5, we are looking at a brief history of New Zealand, and the Treaty of Waitangi. It is a way for us to understand our heritage, and to be more informed when people like the media start to talk about the Treaty. Mr Marris will be taking these sessions every Friday.

Reminders for Parents

A few reminders as we near the holidays.

  1. All students need to have covered in shoes for Hard Materials every Monday morning.
  2. All students need to pay for swimming tuition from February if they haven't already.
  3. All students need to pay the $30 school event fees - we have been to the Science Road Show already as a part of this cost.
  4. All Learning Logs and Technology folders need to be back at school so that students can continue their fantastic work :-)
Thanks so much for helping us out :-)

Homework for Week 8

This weeks homework could be a mixture of the following:
(keeping in mind 1 hour per night)

  • Showing someone else around your blog
  • You could even get parents to leave comments as a part of your homework :-)
  • Playing learning objects from reading, maths or writing
  • adding something of my own choice - remember it must meet the goals before you decide to add it to your blog. It could even be your favorite band - but you will need to write a few sentences to explain why you like them and why you have added them :-)
  • reflect on your learning each day - see example below :-)

Monday 22 March - Reflection Example:

Today I learnt how to multiply numbers by 10's, 100's and 1000's. For example, 6 x 200. I can do 6 x 2 which = 12 and multiply 12 by 100 because 200 is a 100 times larger than 2. So 6 x 200 = 1200.

I also learnt not to flinch when you get an injection because you have to have 2 injections instead of 1!!

Thanks :-)

Many thanks to all the parents who attended parent, student and teacher goal setting interviews. It was fantastic to share all of the awesome work your children have been doing in Room 5. Below are some photos of the science road show that we attended today :-)

SAMS Welcome Japanese Students

Remember we have the Japanese students from Makuhari to welcome into our school this morning. I am sure we are all looking forward to having a few of them in Room 5 and we hope that they enjoy their stay in New Zealand.

Where in the world is Makuhari??

Dear Parents, many students have had various issues with getting things working properly so I have given them a bit longer. I will be working my way through the class by Wednesday this week to ensure they are all OK :-) Feel free to leave comments if you want to as parents :-)
