'Into the book'

'Into the Book' is an online reading comprehension resource for students and teachers. It focuses on eight research-based strategies: Using Prior Knowledge, Making Connections, Questioning, Visualising, Inferring, Summarising, Evaluating and Synthesising.

We will be using this website to help us develop our reading comprehension skills this term.Log in and have a go at the activities on the site! It's easy and loads of fun:-)

Maori Language week

As you may know, this week is Maori language week. Room 5 have been working on learning and using new words and phrases in our classroom. Here is a list of some simple kiwaha (sayings) and kupu (words) that we have been using;

This term Emma Edwards and myself will be sharing the teaching within Room 5 :-) We have been busy preparing for this term and we are extremely excited about starting with the students on Monday!!

What's on this Term?
Writing - Narratives
Reading - reorganising text to better understand what we read and as always improving comprehension.
Maths - fractions, proportions and ratios and statistics
PE - netball
Health - relationships, drug and alcohol awareness
Te Reo - basics in Maori
SAMS Learner - learning to talk about our learning and the SAMS Learner with more confidence
